The core documents (every consulate)
- Passport: valid 3 months beyond your stay, issued within 10 years, 2 blank pages.
- US status: Green Card or long-term US visa (B1/B2 is NOT accepted); I-20/I-66 for students.
- Proof of residence: driver's license or State ID within the consulate's jurisdiction.
- Photo: passport-size, white background (size varies: 2x2 in or 35x45 mm).
- Application form: Schengen short-stay form, signed before the officer.
- Round-trip flight reservation.
- Lodging: hotel bookings or a host declaration.
- Employment/income proof (varies by status).
- 3 months of bank statements.
- Travel medical insurance (€30,000 or $50,000 minimum).
- Visa fee (money order/cashier's check).
- Return mailing envelope.
